Why Film Decoded?

As an aspirant filmmaker, I'm frustrated with the kind of interviews that we have of our current industry filmmakers. There's hardly any value one can find in the midst of all the celebrity gossip.

With the onset of OTTs, there's a huge opportunity for budding filmmakers to get their stories to their audience, and film education is more important now than ever. In an attempt to create more content in this space, I'm recording my conversations with artists from various teams involved in filmmaking - editing, costumes and make-up, production, screenwriting, DI, sound design, VFX, etc.

I'm particularly interested in their workflows, the tools they use, team structures, inspirations, the business of cinema, finances involved, how the OTT space works, how to sell a film, and many more topics.

I'm aware that this content is very niche and might not have a viral reach, but if anyone is looking out for this specific knowledge, I want it to exist on the internet.

About the host

Hey, I’m a 24 y.o. freelance designer + film-maker currently living in Bengaluru. I was born and brought up in Vizag, and have done my bachelors in Mechanical Engineering at IIT Madras. I’ve started freelancing in photography, editing, motion graphics, and graphic design while I was in college. I’ve worked as a product designer for two years at Openhouse and Exterro, where I have designed products for a diverse set of user base.

I’ve recently quit my job to explore a few interests of mine and Film Decoded is one of my side projects. Apart from films, I’m highly interested in blockchain and it’s various applications.
